MELBOURNE - Jul 9/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A series of strong cold fronts associated with a complex low pressure system will move across the south of the State today. Another front will move across the south of the State on Friday. A high pressure system will move over the Bight on Sunday then eastern parts on Monday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers, with possible heavy falls, over the southern agricultural area increasing to widespread showers about southern and western coasts and the Mount Lofty Ranges until early afternoon. Isolated showers over the remainder of the agricultural area, West Coast district and far south of the pastorals. Possible small hail over the agricultural areas and far south of the Pastorals. Possible isolated thunderstorms over the agricultural area, contracting southeast by evening. Possible isolated snow showers over the higher peaks of the southern Flinders Ranges. Cool to cold with fresh to strong and gusty northwest to southwesterly winds.Thursday 10 JulyIsolated showers over the agricultural areas and far south of the pastorals contracting south during the day. Showers tending scattered at first about the southern agricultural area. Possible small hail over the southeast during the early morning. Possible isolated early morning thunderstorms about the Lower South East coast. Cool with moderate to fresh southwest to westerly winds easing during the day.Friday 11 JulyIsolated showers over the agricultural area and West Coast district, becoming scattered over the southern agricultural area during the day. Cool with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds.Saturday 12 July Isolated showers over the agricultural areas and the south of the pastorals contracting south during the day. Showers tending scattered at first over the agricultural area north of about Keith to Ceduna. Cool with moderate southwest to southeast winds turning northeasterly in the west late Sunday and northerly during Monday. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday morning to midnight Saturday are expected to be up to 5 mm about the far southern parts of the Pastoral districts, 5 to 15 mm over the northern agricultural areas, Flinders and West Coast. Falls increasing to 15 to 30 mm about the southern agricultural area and western coasts, with local falls of 30 to 60 mm about southern coasts and ranges. Isolated falls of up to 100mm are possible over the Mt Lofty Ranges. Sunday until TuesdayPossible isolated showers about the southern coasts and ranges on Sunday then developing about the western coasts during Tuesday. Slight chance of showers in the far northwest on Sunday, extending over the north of the state during Monday before contracting east and clearing by late Monday evening.
