MELBOURNE - Jul 8/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front approaching from the west will cross the State overnight and Wednesday morning. An associated low pressure system will pass just to the south of Victoria during Wednesday and early Thursday. Another cold front is expected reach far western Victoria Friday night then cross the State early Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms developing in the west tonight. Partly cloudy with fresh to strong northerly winds, gusty over western and central districts and also over the eastern ranges.Wednesday 9 JulyScattered showers extending from the west with snowfalls lowering to 900 metres. Thunderstorms and hail possible in the west. Only isolated showers in the far north and East Gippsland. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh northerly winds easing and shifting westerly in the west later in the day.Thursday 10 JulyScattered showers on and south of the ranges, gradually easing from the west, only isolated showers over the northwest. Showers falling as snow above 1000 metres, rising to 1200 metres later. Cool to cold and with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds.Friday 11 JulyScattered showers developing in the west then extending throughout during the afternoon and evening, although remaining fine over East Gippsland. Cool with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds shifting southwesterly in the west later.Saturday 12 JulyScattered showers with possible hail and thunder extending throughout from the west with snowfalls down to 600 metres.
