MELBOURNE - Jul 8/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A vigorous cold front near Kangaroo Island and an associated complex low pressure system will move across the south of the State during this evening and Wednesday. Another front will move across the south of the State on Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms over western coasts and the southern agricultural area. Isolated showers over the remainder of the agricultural area and the far south of the pastorals. Showers possibly becoming more frequent with heavy falls about the west coast of Eyre Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, southern Yorke Peninsula and the Mount Lofty Ranges later in the evening. Fresh to strong and gusty north to northwesterly winds, possibly reaching gale force about coasts and ranges. Colder fresh to strong and gusty westerly winds in the west, extending over central districts this evening. Possible small hail over the West Coast district in the evening.Wednesday 9 JulyScattered showers, with possible heavy falls, over the southern agricultural area increasing to widespread showers about southern and western coasts and the Mount Lofty Ranges until early afternoon. Isolated showers over the remainder of the agricultural area, West Coast district and far south of the pastorals. Possible small hail over the agricultural areas and far south of the Pastorals. Possible isolated thunderstorms over the agricultural area. Possible isolated snow showers over the higher peaks of the southern Flinders Ranges. Cool to cold with fresh to strong west to southwesterly winds.Thursday 10 JulyIsolated showers over the agricultural areas and far south of the pastorals contracting south during the day. Showers tending scattered at first about the southern agricultural area. Possible small hail over the southeast during the early morning. Possible isolated early morning thunderstorms about the Lower South East coast. Cool with moderate to fresh southwest to westerly winds easing during the day.Friday 11 JulyIsolated showers over the agricultural area and West Coast district, becoming scattered over the southern agricultural area during the day. Cool with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds.Saturday 12 July Isolated showers over the agricultural areas and the south of the pastorals contracting south during the day. Showers tending scattered at first over the agricultural area north of about Keith to Ceduna. Cool with moderate southwest to southeast winds turning northeasterly in the west late Sunday and northerly during Monday. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday afternoon to midnight Saturday are expected to be up to 5 mm about the far southern parts of the Pastoral districts, 5 to 15 mm over the northern agricultural areas, Flinders and West Coast. Falls increasing to 15 to 30 mm about the southern agricultural area and western coasts, with local falls of 30 to 60 mm about southern coasts and ranges and the west coast of Eyre Peninsula. Isolated falls of up to 100mm are possible over the Mt Lofty Ranges. Sunday until TuesdayPossible isolated showers about the southern coasts and ranges on Sunday then developing about the western coasts during Tuesday. Slight chance of showers in the far northwest on Sunday, extending over the north of the state during Monday before contracting east and clearing by late Monday evening.
