MELBOURNE - Jul 8/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A vigorous cold front and associated complex low pressure system will move across the south of the State during Tuesday and Wednesday. Another front will move across the south of the State on Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms extending over western coasts and the southern agricultural area. Widespread showers and possible heavy falls about the west coast of Eyre Peninsula, Kangaroo Island and the south of the Mt Lofty Ranges. Isolated showers extending from the west over the rest of the agricultural area, Flinders and far south of the pastorals. Mild with fresh to strong and gusty north to northwesterly winds, possibly reaching gale force about coasts and ranges. Winds turning colder fresh to strong and gusty westerly in the west. Possible small hail over the West Coast district in the evening.Wednesday 9 JulyWidespread showers about southern and western coasts, grading to isolated showers over the northern agricultural area, Flinders and far south of the pastorals. Possible small hail over the agricultural areas and far south of the Pastorals. Possible isolated thunderstorms over the agricultural area. Cool to cold with fresh to strong west to southwesterly winds.Thursday 10 JulyScattered showers at first about the southern agricultural area, grading to isolated showers over the northern agricultural area, Flinders and far south of the pastorals. Possible small hail over the southeast. Possible isolated thunderstorms about the Lower South East coast. Cool with moderate to fresh southwest to westerly winds easing during the day.Friday 11 July Scattered showers over the southern agricultural area, with isolated showers developing over the remainder of the agricultural area and West Coast district. Cool with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday to midnight Friday are expected to be up to 5 mm about the far southern parts of the Pastoral districts, 5 to 15 mm over the northern agricultural areas, Flinders and West Coast. Falls increasing to 15 to 30 mm about the southern agricultural area and western coasts, with local falls of 30 to 60 mm about southern coasts and ranges and the west coast of Eyre Peninsula. Isolated falls of up to 100mm are possible over the Mt Lofty Ranges. Saturday until MondayIsolated falls over the agricultural areas and the south of the pastorals contracting south during the period and clearing during Sunday.
