MELBOURNE - Jul 7/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A broad low pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea, and is combining with a high pressure system over central Australia to direct a west to southwesterly airstream across New South Wales. The high will move to the north of New South Wales and into the Tasman during Monday and Tuesday while gradually weakening. A strong cold front will cross New South Wales during Wednesday and Thursday, with northwesterly winds strengthening ahead of a cool and gusty westerly change. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated morning drizzle about the western slopes of the central and southern ranges, contracting to the south. Light snow showers on the Alps, mainly morning. Morning fog and frost areas inland, more widespread in the south. Partly cloudy over the southern inland, mostly sunny in the north and along the coast. Moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, tending northwesterly in the west.Tuesday 8 JulyIsolated morning drizzle over the southern part of the southwest slopes, with light snow possible above 1400 metres. Morning fog and frost areas along the ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere. West to northwesterly winds becoming north to northwest and strengthening in the west.Wednesday 9 JulyIsolated showers in the southern and central inland tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges with late snow showers above 900 metres. Partly cloudy in the remainder. Fresh to strong north to northwesterly winds turning cold westerly in the west later.Thursday 10 JulyIsolated showers over the southern and central inland, tending scattered on the western slopes of the central and southern ranges, falling as snow above around 900 metres on parts of the central and southern ranges. Mostly sunny along the coast and in the north.
