MELBOURNE - Jul 6/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system just east of Bass Strait will drift further eastwards tonight and then weaken over the Tasman Sea on Monday. Meanwhile, a high pressure system will move eastwards across northern NSW, with a narrow high pressure ridge extending across Victoria on Monday. A cold front will approach western Victoria later Monday, but will slide away to the south of the State early on Tuesday. A deep low pressure system and associated cold front will cross the Southern Ocean later Tuesday, with the front expected to enter western Victoria on Wednesday. Another cold front will approach western Victoria on Thursday night. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers in central and eastern districts, more widespread in southeast. Snow showers down to 1200 metres at first. Light to moderate west to southwesterly winds.Monday 7 JulyIsolated showers in the southeast, clearing by the afternoon. Morning fog and frost areas, mainly in the west and north. A generally cool partly cloudy day with light winds tending moderate northerly from the west.Tuesday 8 JulyIsolated showers, mainly in the west and about the ranges. The chance of snow above 1500 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day with freshening northerly winds.Wednesday 9 JulyScattered showers extending from the west with snowfalls lowering to 1000 metres. Only isolated showers in the northwest and East Gippsland. Cloudy with moderate to fresh northerly winds shifting westerly in the west later in the day.Thursday 10 JulyScattered showers about the southwest and the ranges, only isolated elsewhere and falling as snow above 1200 metres.
