Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 6/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system just east of Bass Strait will drift further eastwards during Sunday and then weaken over the Tasman Sea on Monday. Meanwhile, a high pressure system will move eastwards across northern NSW, with a narrow high pressure ridge extending across the State on Monday. A cold front will approach western Victoria later Monday, but will slide away to the south of the State early on Tuesday. A deep low pressure system and associated cold front will cross the Bight later Tuesday to enter western Victoria on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers on and south of the ranges and developing about the northwest during the afternoon. Showers more widespread about the coast and over Gippsland during the morning with the chance of hail and thunder. Snow showers down to 1200 metres. A cool to cold day with generally moderate west to southwest winds, fresh about the Gippsland coast.Monday 7 JulyIsolated showers in the southeast, clearing by the afternoon then the chance of local showers in the far southwest in the evening. Morning fog areas, mainly in the west and north. A generally cool partly cloudy day with light winds tending moderate northerly from the west.Tuesday 8 JulyIsolated showers or drizzle, mainly in the west and about the northern slopes of the dividing range. The chance of snow above 1500 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day with freshening northerly winds.Wednesday 9 JulyScattered showers extending from the west with snowfalls lowering to 1000 metres. Only isolated showers in the northwest and East Gippsland. Cloudy with moderate to fresh northerly winds shifting westerly in the west later in the day.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Sunday.Product IDV10310
