Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 6/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A complex low pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea, and is combining with a high pressure system over central Australia to direct a cool west to southwesterly airstream across New South Wales. The high will move eastwards across northern New South Wales and into the Tasman on Monday and Tuesday while gradually weakening. A strong cold front will cross New South Wales during Wednesday and Thursday, with northwesterly winds strengthening ahead of a cool and gusty westerly change.
Forecast for the rest of SundayMorning drizzle periods along the western slopes of the central and southern ranges. Isolated showers over the inland during the day, more frequent along the south and central west slopes. Isolated showers along the south coast. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the far southwest. Snow above 1200 metre level on the southern ranges, and possibly on the central and northern ranges later. Cold and fresh southwesterly winds.Monday 7 JulyIsolated showers and morning drizzle about the western slopes of the southern ranges, contracting to the south. Light snow showers on the Alps. Morning fog and frost areas inland. Partly cloudy over the southern inland, mostly sunny in the north and along the coast. Fresh west to southwesterly winds, tending northwesterly in the west.Tuesday 8 JulyIsolated showers on the western slopes of the southern ranges with light snow showers above 1400 metres. Morning fog and frost areas along the ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere. West to northwesterly winds becoming north to northwest and strengthening in the west.Wednesday 9 JulyIsolated showers in the southern and central inland tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges with late snow showers above 800 metres. Partly cloudy in the remainder. Fresh to strong north to northwesterly winds turning colder westerly in the west later.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Sunday.Product IDN10031
