Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 5/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system lying just west of Tasmania will drift east to northeastwards through Bass Strait today to lie just east of Bass Strait on Sunday then move slowly away over the Tasman Sea on Monday. A narrow high pressure ridge will reach western Victoria on Sunday night and will cross the State during Monday. A deep low pressure system and associated cold front will cross the Bight on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers on and south of the Dividing Range, isolated over the remainder except for the far northwest. Snow down to 1200 metres. Possible thunderstorms near the coast. A cool to cold day with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds turning fresh west to southwesterly from the west and becoming strong about the coast.Sunday 6 JulyScattered showers near the coast and over Gippsland and isolated showers in most other areas. Snow showers down to 1300 metres. A cool to cold day with generally light to moderate west to southwest winds, fresh about the Gippsland coast.Monday 7 JulyIsolated showers in the southeast, clearing by the afternoon. Morning fog areas, mainly in the west and north. A generally cool day with light winds tending moderate northerly from the west.Tuesday 8 JulyIsolated showers or drizzle, mainly in the west and about the northern slopes of the dividing range. Showers increasing in the southwest at night. A cool and mostly cloudy day with freshening northerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
