MELBOURNE - Jul 5/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system to the west of Tasmania will weaken as it moves across Bass Strait today, with a high over central Australia extending a ridge across the north of New South Wales. The low will reach the western Tasman Sea by tonight and remain slow moving during Sunday, before moving further east and deepening in the eastern Tasman on Monday night. The ridge will move slowly eastwards across New South Wales during Monday and Tuesday before the next cold front reaches the west of the state on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers from the Riverina through to western parts of the southern and central ranges, more widespread on the western slopes of the southern ranges, with snow falling on the Alps above about 1200 metres. An early shower or two in the far northeast. Mostly sunny remainder. Morning fog and frost patches on the ranges and east slopes. Moderate to fresh westerly winds, becoming strong about the southern and central ranges.Sunday 6 JulyIsolated showers on and west of the ranges, more widespread about the western slopes of the southern and central ranges. Snow to about the 1200 metre level on the southern ranges, and possibly on the central ranges later. Isolated afternoon showers possible about central and southern parts of the coast. Cool to cold, moderate to fresh southwest winds.Monday 7 JulyMorning drizzle about the western slopes of the ranges, contracting to the south and becoming isolated showers, with snow to about the 1200 metre levels over the Alps. Isolated showers along the coast south of Port Macquarie. Moderate to fresh southwest winds, tending northwest later in the west of the state.Tuesday 8 JulyIsolated showers over the southern inland and ranges, more likely near the Victorian border. Showers falling as snow above 1400 metres over the Alps.
