Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 4/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over eastern Australia will move over the Tasman Sea while a cold front and associated low pressure system will enter western Victoria on Friday. The low will weaken as it moves across Bass Strait on Saturday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Sunday. Later on Sunday another ridge of high pressure will move from the Bight to western Victoria, reaching eastern Victoria by late Monday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayMorning fog and frost patches in the east. Isolated showers in the southwest, gradually extending throughout by the evening and becoming more widespread in the southwest later. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the far southwest. Snowfalls down to 1300 metres by the evening. Cool and mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds, strong and gusty at times in the south and about elevated areas.Saturday 5 JulyScattered showers on and south of the Dividing Range, isolated over the remainder except for the far northwest. Showers clearing north of the Dividing Range by the evening, easing over the remainder. Snow down to 1200 metres. A cool day with north to northwesterly winds shifting fresh west to southwesterly, gradually easing from the west later.Sunday 6 JulyScattered showers on and south of the Dividing Range, tending more isolated away from the ranges and coastal areas and contracting to the southeast of the State by the evening. The chance of showers over the northern plains and northwest during the day. Snow showers down to 1400 metres. A cool day with generally light to moderate west to southwest winds.Monday 7 JulyIsolated showers in the southeast, clearing by the afternoon. Fine and partly cloudy for the remainder, apart from the chance of late showers in the far southwest. A generally cool day with light to moderate northerly winds, tending west to southwesterly in the southeast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Friday.Product IDV10310
