Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 2/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system located over New South Wales will move over the Tasman Sea during Thursday. A cold front and associated low pressure system will move over the Bight on Thursday then enter western Victoria later on Friday. The low will weaken as it moves across Bass Strait on Saturday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Sunday. Later on Sunday a ridge of high pressure will move over Victoria in the wake of the low.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMorning fog and frost patches in the northeast and Gippsland. A fine and mainly sunny afternoon, although cloudy at times in the northeast. Cool with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds.Friday 4 JulyScattered showers developing in the southwest and about the eastern ranges in the morning, extending throughout by the evening, although only isolated in the northwest and Gippsland. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the far southwest. Snowfalls down to 1300 metres. Cool with freshening north to northwesterly winds.Saturday 5 JulyIsolated showers, more widespread about the ranges and coast. Showers clearing north of the Dividing Range by the evening, easing over the remainder. Snow down to 1500 metres. A cool day with north to northwesterly winds shifting moderate southwest to southeasterly, easing later.Sunday 6 JulyIsolated showers on and south of the Dividing Range, tending scattered in the southeast. Showers clearing from the west during the afternoon and contracting to the far southeast by the evening. Snow showers down to 1400 metres about the ranges. A cool day with generally light to moderate south to southwest winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
