MELBOURNE - Jul 1/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is building over South Australia and will move slowly eastwards this evening and during Wednesday across southern NSW and northern Victoria. The next cold front and associated low pressure system will move through the Bight on Thursday to enter western Victoria later Friday and then across central and eastern Victoria on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas, more widespread in the east and about the coast. Cloudy but mainly fine in the north. Snowfalls above 1400 metres. Light to moderate west to southwesterly winds.Wednesday 2 JulyMorning fog and frost patches in the north. Isolated morning showers or drizzle in the south and on the ranges, otherwise fine. Early snowfalls possible above 1600 metres. Cool and partly cloudy with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.Thursday 3 JulyMorning fog patches and possible early drizzle in the northeast. The a fine and mainly sunny afternoon. Cool to mild and with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds.Friday 4 JulyScattered showers developing in the west and extending to central and northeastern areas by the evening. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the far southwest. Snow extending down to 1300 metres. Freshening north to northwest winds, shifting west to southwest over far southwest later in the day.Saturday 5 JulyScatters showers, becoming isolated in the west and north and contracting to the rangers and east during the day. Chance of thunderstorms in the southeast. Snow above 1300 metres.
