Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 29/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough near the Queensland east coast will continue moving to the east. A strong high over southern Western Australia will extend a strengthening ridge into central Queensland to the west of the trough. The high will move only slowly eastwards and will strengthen a little in the next few days.
Forecast for the rest of SundayFine and mostly clear across almost the entire state. Isolated light showers near Torres Strait. Early frost over parts of the southern interior. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds.Monday 30 JuneFine and mostly sunny across almost the entire state. Isolated light showers near Torres Strait, while a few light showers may develop near a weak trough over the southeastern Darling Downs. Early frost over parts of the central, southern and southeastern interior. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 1 JulyThe large high should maintain its intensity and move very slowly eastwards across southern Australia, keeping most of Queensland fine, dry and sunny. Isolated light showers along the far northern coast. Extensive areas of morning frost over the central, southern and southeastern interior.Wednesday 2 JulyThe large high will shift over New South Wales, keeping most of Queensland fine, dry and sunny. Isolated showers along the tropical east coast. Areas of morning frost over the central, southern and southeastern interior.Thursday 3 JulyThe high will shift slowly to the east, keeping most of Queensland fine, dry and sunny. Isolated showers should develop about most of the east coast as winds tend more onshore. Areas of morning frost over the central, southern and southeastern interior.Friday until SundayThe high should continue moving to the east and into the northern Tasman Sea on Friday and into the weekend. Winds will shift more onshore along most of the east coast with isolated showers for most coastal areas. Showers are likely over parts of the central and southern inland as moisture spreads westwards to a developing inland trough and an upper trough approaches from the west.
