MELBOURNE - Jun 28/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over inland Queensland will continue to move rapidly eastwards and off the coast overnight. A strong new high over Western Australia will extend a ridge through Queensland behind the front. The high should drift eastwards across southern Australia during the week. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over southeast Queensland, clearing from the west. Isolated showers over parts of the east coast. Fine and clear over the remainder. Mostly moderate southwest to northwesterly winds, tending east to northeasterly over the tropical east.Sunday 29 JuneIsolated showers about the far northern coast. Early frost over parts of the southern interior. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds.Monday 30 JuneThe high will strengthen and move slowly towards the head of the Great Australian Bight, maintaining fine, dry and sunny conditions across Queensland, apart from isolated light showers near Torres Strait. Extensive areas of morning frost over the central, southern and southeastern interior.Tuesday 1 JulyThe large high should maintain its intensity and move very slowly eastwards across southern Australia, keeping most of Queensland fine, dry and sunny. Isolated light showers along the far northern coast. Areas of morning frost over the central, southern and southeastern interior.Wednesday 2 JulyThe large high will shift over New South Wales, keeping most of Queensland fine, dry and sunny. Isolated showers along the tropical east coast. Areas of morning frost over the central, southern and southeastern interior.Thursday until SaturdayThe high should drift gradually across southeastern Australia, keeping most of Queensland fine, dry and sunny. Isolated showers should develop about most of the east coast as winds tend more onshore.
