MELBOURNE - Jun 28/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A deep, complex low pressure system lies to the west and south of Tasmania and an associated strong cold front is crossing NSW. The front will clear to the east tonight with a cold, strong westerly airstream over NSW in its wake and snowfall on the southern and central ranges. Cold, fresh to strong west to southwest winds and snow on the above mentioned ranges will persist tomorrow as the low passes to the south of the state, and winds are likely to reach gale force about the southeast. Conditions will improve early next week as the low moves away to the southeast and a high pressure system approaches NSW, and morning frost are likely to become quite widespread from Tuesday on. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers about the ranges, western slopes and immediately adjacent plains, with snow on the southern and central ranges lowering to about the 900 metre level this evening. Isolated showers along the coast and in the far west of the state. Isolated thunderstorm in the northeast and possibly about the southern and central inland. Fresh to strong and gusty northwesterly winds turning colder and more westerly, possibly reaching gale force at times in the east.Sunday 29 JuneScattered to widespread showers about the western slopes of the southern and central ranges, with snow to about the 900 metre level. Isolated showers over much of the remainder of the inland though dry in the far north. Mostly sunny along the coast. Fresh to strong westerly winds, reaching gale force at times about the southeast.Monday 30 JuneIsolated showers on the western slopes of the ranges, more widespread in the south, falling as snow above about 850 metres. Dry elsewhere. Early frost patches about the ranges. Moderate west to southwest winds, fresh to strong in the east, moderate later.Tuesday 1 JulyIsolated showers on the western slopes of the southern ranges, falling as snow above about 1300 metres. Morning frost areas, more widespread about the ranges. Moderate to fresh southwest winds.Wednesday 2 JulyIsolated showers possible about the north coast and far southern ranges early. Fine, mostly sunny elsewhere. Morning frost areas, widespread about the ranges. Morning fog areas west of the ranges.
