Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 27/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high is situated over the north Tasman Sea. A deep complex low is approaching southeast Australia from the Bight. A major cold front associated with the low was located near the far west of the state early this morning, and is forecast to bring a vigorous and cold west to southwesterly airstream to New South Wales over the weekend, with the front moving to eastern parts of the state later tonight, and the low pressure system moving to the east of Tasmania during Sunday. Conditions are expected to ease early next week as the low moves away and another high pressure ridge is expected to reach western parts of New South Wales.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers on the southern and central ranges and slopes and inland, more frequent in the south, falling as snow above 1600 metres, and lowering to above 900 metres later this evening. Scattered showers developing over the northern ranges and slopes, possibly extending to the north coast in the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms over northern ranges, slopes and coast. The chance of thunderstorms over the southern ranges and southern inland. Dry on the southern half of the coast. Fresh to strong and gusty northwesterly winds turning more westerly during the day, and reaching gale force at times over the southeast.Sunday 29 JuneScattered showers about the central and southern ranges and western slopes, and the chance of isolated showers over the remainder of the inland. Snow above about 900 metres. Dry along the coast and in the northeast. Fresh to strong westerly winds, reaching gale force at times on the ranges and parts of the coast.Monday 30 JuneIsolated showers on the western ranges and slopes, falling as snow above about 800 metres. Dry elsewhere. Fresh to strong west to southwest winds in the east.Tuesday 1 JulyIsolated showers on the western ranges and slopes, falling as snow above about 1300 metres. Fresh to strong southwest winds along the coast, moderate over the inland.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.Product IDN10031
