Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 27/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An intense low 980 hPa centred well south of the Bight is moving slowly eastwards to be centred well south of Kangaroo Island late Friday evening and near Tasmania on Saturday evening. A vigorous cold front near a line Port Lincoln to Coober Pedy will move into the Northeast Pastoral by late Friday evening and another front will move across the southeast of the State on Saturday morning. Further fronts will move over the southeast of the State on Sunday and Monday followed by a high moving over the Bight later on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms extending across the agricultural area and south of the Northwest Pastoral in the afternoon. Isolated showers extending over the remainder south of about Woomera to Yunta. Showers becoming locally heavy about coasts and the Mount Lofty Ranges. Possible small hail near western coasts late evening. Cool to mild with strong and gusty northwesterly winds, shifting colder, fresh to strong and gusty west to southwesterly in the west during the afternoon and evening. Winds reaching gale force near ocean coasts.Saturday 28 JuneScattered showers over the agricultural area, widespread with local heavy falls over the southern agricultural area, but more isolated in the Riverland district. Widespread showers near southern coasts and ranges until evening, locally heavy. Isolated thunder and possible small hail over the agricultural area and south of the Northeast Pastoral district, clearing from the west. Cool to cold. Fresh to strong southwesterly winds, reaching gale force about central and southern coasts.Sunday 29 JuneScattered showers over the agricultural area, with isolated showers over the Riverland district and south of the Pastoral districts. Possible small hail over the South East and Murraylands districts. Cool to cold with fresh southwest to southerly winds, strong near southern coasts.Monday 30 JuneIsolated showers over the agricultural area, tending scattered over the southern agricultural area. Cool with moderate south to southwest winds, fresh near southern coasts.Tuesday 1 July
Possible isolated showers over the southern agricultural area, more likely near the coasts. Cool to mild with light winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday afternoon to midnight Tuesday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over the northern agricultural area, with less than 2 mm further north. 10 to 20 mm is expected over the southern agricultural area, increasing to 20 to 40 mm on the ranges and about southern coasts, with local falls of 40 to 60 mm in the Mount Lofty Ranges.
Wednesday until FridayPossible isolated showers about southern coasts on Wednesday, fine Thursday, then isolated showers about western and southern coasts on Friday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Saturday.Product IDS10033
