MELBOURNE - Jun 26/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong cold front is moving across the Bight and will approach western Victoria Friday evening, with an associated low pressure system crosses waters south of the Bight to be just west of Tasmania by Saturday morning. The front will enter western Victoria Saturday morning, reach central areas late afternoon or evening and then extend through eastern Victoria early Sunday, while the associated low pressure system moves across Bass Strait. A strong high pressure system will move towards Adelaide later on Monday as the low moves away to the southeast. Forecast for the rest of FridayDrizzle or isolated showers over the northern slopes and northeast ranges during the morning, possibly falling as snow on the peaks. Scattered showers developing over western districts later in the afternoon, reaching central districts in the evening. Remaining fine in the southeast. A cool day with a fresh to strong north to northwesterly wind, reaching gale force at times about the ranges and in the south.Saturday 28 JuneShowers near and south of the ranges tending more isolated over the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms in the southwest and local hail possible in the south. Snowfalls lowering to 1000 metres. A cool to cold day with fresh to locally strong northwesterly winds shifting westerly over western and central districts in the afternoon and evening.Sunday 29 JuneShowers near and south of the ranges tending more isolated over the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms with local hail possible. Snowfalls lowering to 800 metres. A cold day with fresh to strong west to southwesterly winds, moderating in the afternoon.Monday 30 JuneScattered showers in southern and mountain districts, becoming isolated on the northern slopes. Snow down to 900 metres in the morning, rising to 1400 metres in the afternoon.
