Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 26/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An intense low 980 hPa centred south of the Bight is moving slowly eastwards to be centred south of Kangaroo Island late Friday evening and near Tasmania on Saturday evening. A vigorous cold front is expected to move across South Australia during Friday and early Saturday. Further fronts will move over the southeast of the State on the weekend followed by a high moving over the Bight on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms extending over western and southern coasts during the morning and across the agricultural area and south of the Northwest Pastoral in the afternoon. Isolated showers extending over the remainder south of about Woomera to Yunta. Showers becoming locally heavy about coasts and the Mount Lofty Ranges. Possible small hail near western coasts late evening. Cool to mild with strengthening northwesterly winds, shifting colder, fresh to strong and gusty west to southwesterly in the west and south during the afternoon or evening.Saturday 28 JuneScattered showers over the agricultural area, widespread with local heavy falls over the southern agricultural area, but more isolated in the Riverland district. Widespread showers near southern coasts and ranges till evening, locally heavy. Isolated thunder and possible small hail over the agricultural area and south of the Northeast Pastoral district, clearing from the west. Cool to cold. Fresh to strong southwesterly winds, reaching gale force near southern coasts.Sunday 29 JuneScattered showers over the agricultural area, with isolated showers over the Riverland district and south of the Pastoral districts. Cool to cold with fresh southwest to southerly winds, strong near southern coasts.Monday 30 June
Isolated showers over the agricultural area, scattered over the southern agricultural area. Cool with moderate south to southwest winds, fresh near southern coasts.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday morning to midnight Monday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over the northern agricultural area, with less than 2 mm further north. 10 to 20 mm is expected over the southern agricultural area, increasing to 20 to 40 mm on the ranges and about southern coasts, with local falls of 40 to 60 mm in the Mount Lofty Ranges.
Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area, contracting to southern coasts and clearing on Wednesday. Possible isolated late showers coasts west of Ceduna on Thursday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CST Friday.Product IDS10033
