MELBOURNE - Jun 26/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A deep low, well to the south of Tasmania is moving to the southeast. A ridge of high pressure extends across the far north of New South Wales from a high centred over southern Queensland. The high should move to the Tasman Sea on Friday. The next major cold front is expected to reach the far west of the state Friday night, before bringing another vigorous and colder west to southwesterly airstream to New South Wales over the weekend. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers along the western slopes of the southern ranges, with snow showers above about 1500 metres. Partly cloudy elsewhere in the southern inland. Dry and clear in the north and along the coast. West to northwest winds, fresh to strong and gusty along the ranges and southern coast, reaching gale force on higher ground in the southeast, but easing overnight.Friday 27 JuneMorning frost on the northern ranges. Isolated showers along the western slopes of the southern ranges clearing by the afternoon, with snow showers above 1700 metres. Chance of late showers in the far southwest. Dry and partly cloudy in the south, mostly sunny in the north. Fresh north to northwesterly winds, stronger in the southeast, and reaching gale force over the alps later in the day.Saturday 28 JuneIsolated showers on the southern and central ranges and slopes and inland, more frequent in the south, falling as snow above about 1000 metres later. Scattered showers developing over the northern ranges and slopes, possibly extending to the north coast in the afternoon. Dry on the southern half of the coast. Fresh to strong and gusty north to northwesterly winds turning more westerly during the day.Sunday 29 JuneScattered showers about the central and southern ranges and western slopes, and the chance of isolated showers over the remainder of the inland. Snow above about 900 metres. Dry along the coast and in the northeast. Fresh to strong westerly winds.Monday 30 JuneIsolated showers on the western ranges and slopes, falling as snow above about 800 metres. Dry elsewhere.
