Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 25/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep low is centred well south of the Bight and is moving slowly eastwards. An associated cold front will pass over the far south of the state this evening. A ridge of high pressure will persist over the north of the State this week with another vigorous front expected late Friday and early Saturday, followed by a high pressure system developing west of the Bight on the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers over the agricultural area, becoming scattered about southern coasts and ranges and the Lower South East this evening. Isolated evening thunderstorms in the Lower South East. Cool generally. Moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds across the southern half of the State, strong and gusty at times about southern coasts and ranges. Light winds in the north.Thursday 26 JuneIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area, scattered south of about Port Lincoln to Lameroo in the morning. Showers contracting southwards during the afternoon, clearing by late evening. Cool grading to mild in the north and west. Light winds in the north. Moderate to fresh northwest to westerly winds in the south, possibly strong at times about southern coasts.Friday 27 JuneFine at first. Isolated showers extending over the agricultural area from the west from late morning, reaching northeastern parts of the agricultural area late evening. Showers also increasing to scattered with isolated thunderstorms over the southern agricultural area, and increasing further to widespread showers near southern coasts and ranges, locally heavy. Possible small hail near western coasts late evening. Possible isolated showers also developing in the south of the Pastoral districts late afternoon or evening. Cool to mild with strengthening northwesterly winds, shifting colder, fresh to strong and gusty west to southwesterly in the west and south during the afternoon or evening.Saturday 28 JuneScattered showers over the agricultural area, but more isolated in the Riverland and Murraylands districts. Widespread showers near southern coasts and ranges till evening, locally heavy. Isolated showers over the remainder to the south of about Marree. Isolated thunderstorms and possible small hail over the agricultural area, gradually contracting eastwards and clearing in the evening. Cool to cold. Fresh to strong and gusty west to southwesterly winds.Sunday 29 June
Scattered showers over the southern agricultural area, with isolated showers over the northern agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts. Possible small hail in the Lower South East district. Cool to cold with fresh southwest to southerly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday evening to midnight Sunday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over the northern agricultural area, with less than 2 mm further north. 10 to 20 mm is expected over the southern agricultural area, increasing to 20 to 40 mm on the ranges and near southern coasts, with local falls of 40 to 60 mm in the Mount Lofty Ranges and near the South East coast, mostly occurring from later on Friday.
Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers over the agricultural area, scattered over the southern agricultural area Monday morning. Isolated showers contracting southwards on Tuesday and Wednesday, to be confined to southern coasts and the Lower South East on Wednesday. Generally cool with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, gradually turning southeast to northeasterly from the west during Tuesday and Wednesday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Thursday.Product IDS10033
