Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 24/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An intense low is centred over eastern Bass Strait. A ridge of high pressure will persist over the north of the State this week with a series of fronts moving across the south. A vigorous front is expected late Friday and early Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers about the southern agricultural area contracting to the southeast. Isolated showers over the remaining agricultural area and south of the pastoral districts easing and contracting southwards. Possible isolated evening thunderstorms about the Lower South East coast. Cool to cold. Light to moderate southwest to southerly winds across the north, increasing to moderate to fresh west to southwesterly over agricultural areas, reaching strong to gale force about the southeast this evening.Wednesday 25 JuneIsolated showers over the agricultural area and south of the pastoral districts, becoming scattered about southern coasts and ranges during the afternoon and evening. Possible isolated evening thunderstorms about the Lower South East coast. Cool with light to moderate northwest to southwesterly winds, fresh in the south and strong at times about southern coasts.Thursday 26 JuneScattered showers over southern agricultural areas south of about Adelaide to Lameroo, easing to isolated showers during the day. Isolated showers over the remainder of the southern agricultural area, possibly reaching into the northern agricultural area at times. Generally cool. Variable light winds in the north with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds in the south, possibly strong at times about southern coasts.Friday 27 JuneIsolated showers extending over the agricultural area and south of the pastoral districts, increasing to scattered showers with isolated thunderstorms about the southern agricultural area and far west coast. Cool to mild with strengthening northwesterly winds, shifting colder west to southwesterly in the west.Saturday 28 June
Scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms and possible small hail over the agricultural area, gradually easing. Isolated showers over the south of the Pastoral districts. Cool to cold. Fresh to strong and gusty west to southwest winds, moderating during the day.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday afternoon to midnight Saturday are expected to be less than 5 mm over the northern agricultural area and Pastoral districts, increasing to 5 to 15 mm over the southern agricultural area and south of the Flinders district, 15 to 30 mm about southern coasts and ranges. Isolated local falls of 30 to 50 mm are possible about the Mount Lofty Ranges and Lower South East coast, mostly occurring later Friday and early Saturday.
Sunday until TuesdayScattered showers over the agricultural area easing to isolated showers. Isolated showers over southern Pastoral districts gradually contracting to the south and clearing early next week. Remaining generally cool with fresh to strong southwesterly winds moderating and becoming light and variable by the end of the period.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Wednesday.Product IDS10033
