MELBOURNE - Jun 23/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong cold front will cross western and southern New South Wales overnight, moving to eastern parts of the state early Tuesday. This front will bring cold and gusty northwesterly winds to much of New South Wales, with winds tending more westerly Tuesday afternoon. A series of fronts will cross the state during the remainder of the week, with generally cool and windy conditions persisting. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers over the southern inland tending more widespread over the south and central west slopes and ranges. Snow developing on the Alps, above 1600m in the morning then down to around 1000m by the evening. Partly cloudy in the north. North to northwesterly winds, fresh to strong ahead of a gusty, cold westerly change in the west.Tuesday 24 JuneIsolated showers over the southern inland tending more widespread on the south and central west slopes and ranges. Snow, with blizzard conditions, on the Alps and over parts of the southern ranges above 700 metres in the morning. Snow also over the central ranges above 1000m in the morning. Snow levels lifting to 1200 m in the south later. Mostly sunny in the north. Cold westerly winds, fresh to strong, increasing to gale force in the southeast and central parts in the afternoon.Wednesday 25 JuneIsolated showers along the western slopes of the central and southern ranges, more frequent in the south, with snow showers above 1100m over the southern ranges, and 1300m over the central ranges. Partly cloudy over the remainder of the inland, mostly sunny along the coast. West to northwest winds, fresh to strong and gusty along the ranges.Thursday 26 JuneIsolated showers along the western slopes of the central and southern ranges, more frequent in the south, with snow showers above 1400m. Partly cloudy elsewhere in the southern inland. Mostly sunny in the north and along the coast. West to northwest winds, fresh to strong and gusty along the ranges.Friday 27 JuneIsolated showers along the western slopes of the central and southern ranges, more frequent in the south, with snow showers above 1600 metres. Partly cloudy in the south, mostly sunny in the north.
