Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 21/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak southerly change is moving along the southern half of the New South Wales coast today. Another ridge is expected to form over New South Wales and the Tasman Sea on Sunday as a strong cold front crosses the Bight. This cold front is expected to bring a very cold and vigorous west to southwesterly airstream over the state during Monday and Tuesday. The cold and windy conditions are expected to persist for much of the week.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers over the south and northeast of the state, more scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges and along the north coast. Snow showers on the Alps above 1700 metres. Isolated thunderstorms in the northeast, and also over the southern inland. West to northwesterly winds tending southwesterly in the west.Sunday 22 JuneIsolated showers and thunderstorms along the north coast and adjacent ranges, mostly clearing by late afternoon. Possible early light showers over the southwest slopes and Alpine areas, falling as snow above 1500 metres. Patchy morning fog along the ranges, more widespread over the southern inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Light and variable winds, tending west to northwesterly.Monday 23 JuneIsolated showers over the southern inland tending more widespread on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Snow developing on the Alps, above 1400m in the morning then down to around 1000m by the evening. Partly cloudy in the north. North to northwesterly winds, fresh to strong ahead of a gusty, cold westerly change in the west.Tuesday 24 JuneIsolated showers over the southern inland tending more widespread on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Snow on the Alps and possibly over parts of the central and southern ranges above around 900 metres in the morning. Mostly sunny in the north. Cold westerly winds, fresh to strong in the southern and central parts.Wednesday 25 JuneIsolated showers along western slopes of the central and southern ranges, with snow showers above about 1200m. Partly cloudy over the remainder of the inland, mostly sunny along the coast. West to northwest winds, fresh to strong and gusty along the ranges.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Sunday.Product IDN10031
