MELBOURNE - Jun 20/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A small low pressure system centred just to the southwest of Victoria is slow moving and will gradually weaken today. On Sunday a strong cold front will move from the Bight region to approach western Victoria at night. This front will cross Victoria Monday. An associated low pressure system will pass to the south of Tasmania on Tuesday as another front crosses Victoria. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers over the north and west, but only isolated showers elsewhere. Showers falling as snow above 1600 metres. Possible thunderstorms over the northeast. A cool day with generally light to moderate northwest to northeasterly winds tending west to southwesterly in the far west this afternoon.Sunday 22 JuneMorning fog patches. Isolated light showers and drizzle patches on and north of the dividing range. A cool day with moderate to fresh northerly winds strengthening in southern and mountain areas at night.Monday 23 JuneShowers extending eastwards, particularly in mountain areas. Local hail and thunder. Snowfalls over Alpine areas lowering to 800 metres overnight. Strong to gale force northerly winds shifting colder west to southwesterly in the west.Tuesday 24 JuneScattered showers in most districts, tending isolated in the east and northwest. Local hail and thunder. Snowfalls down to 700 metres, rising to 1100 metres in the evening.
