Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 20/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low south of Mount Gambier this afternoon will move east through Bass Strait early on Saturday. A weak high pressure system will develop across the north of the State on the weekend. A deep low will move over the Bight late on Sunday then track southeastwards during Monday, an associated vigorous cold front will move over the west of the State on Sunday and the remainder on Monday. A series of cold fronts will then move over southern parts of the State through the middle of the week.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers over the agricultural area, scattered over the southern agricultural area till evening. The chance of isolated thunderstorms near southern and western coasts and over the Lower South East, contracting southeastwards during the day and clearing by evening. Cool in the south grading to mild in the north with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds.Saturday 21 JuneAreas of patchy morning fog over the agricultural areas and southern pastorals. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area, tending scattered about the Lower South East coast at first and contracting to southern coasts in the evening. Possible isolated showers about the northern agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts clearing by evening. Cool, grading to mild in the far north. Light to moderate northwest to southwesterly winds, turning northerly in the west.Sunday 22 JuneAreas of patchy morning fog on and east of the ranges.Isolated showers near southern coasts clearing early. Isolated showers extending over west coast during the afternoon then the southern agricultural area in the evening, increasing to scattered showers with possible thunder about southern coasts late evening. Mild in the south grading to warm in the far northwest. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds, shifting cooler west to southwesterly in the west in the afternoon or evening. Northerly winds becoming strong and gusty about the coasts and ranges during the evening.Monday 23 JuneScattered showers over the southern agricultural area and south of the Flinders, with isolated showers over the northern agricultural area and south of the pastoral districts. Possible isolated thunderstorms and small hail south of about Ceduna to Port Augusta to Renmark. Cool to cold with fresh to strong northwest to southwest winds, reaching gale force at times about southern coasts and ranges.Tuesday 24 June
Isolated showers over the agricultural area and south of the pastoral districts, scattered at first about the southern agricultural area. Possible isolated thunder about the Lower South East at first. Cool to cold with fresh to strong southwesterly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday to midnight Tuesday are expected to be 10 to 20 mm over the southern agricultural area, with local falls of 20 to 50 mm about southern coasts and ranges and near the Lower South East coast. 2 to 10 mm is expected over the northern agricultural area, Flinders and far south of the Pastorals, and less than 2 mm elsewhere.
Wednesday until FridayIsolated showers over the agricultural area and south of the pastoral districts, scattered at times about southern coasts. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, becoming fresh to strong later in the period.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Saturday.Product IDS10033
