Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 19/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low 996 hPa south of the Bight will move east and weaken to be about 1008 hPa over western Bass Strait on Friday evening. An associated cold front is expected to move over the southern agricultural area on Friday, followed by a high that will move across the north of the State on the weekend. A vigorous cold front will move over the west of the State on Sunday and the remainder on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers and possible isolated thunderstorms developing southwest of about Venus Bay to Cape Jervis this evening. Cool to mild. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds, fresh about southern coasts, shifting westerly in the west.Friday 20 JuneIsolated showers extending over the southern agricultural area, with increasing to scattered with possible isolated thunderstorms near southern coasts and ranges. Possible isolated showers over the northern agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts. Cool in the south grading to mild in the north with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds.Saturday 21 JuneIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area, tending scattered about the Lower South East coast at first and contracting to southern coasts in the evening. Possible isolated showers about the northern agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts clearing. Cool, grading to mild in the far north. Light to moderate northwest to southwesterly winds, turning northerly in the west.Sunday 22 JuneIsolated showers near southern coasts clearing early. Isolated showers extending over the southern agricultural area and west coast in the late afternoon or evening, increasing to scattered showers about southern coasts in the evening. Mild in the south grading to warm in the far northwest. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds, shifting cooler west to southwesterly in the west in the afternoon or evening.Monday 23 June
Scattered showers over the southern agricultural area and south of the Flinders, with isolated showers over the northern agricultural area and south of the pastoral districts. Cool to cold with fresh to strong northwest to southwest winds, reaching gale force about southern coasts.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday evening to midnight Monday are expected to be 10 to 20 mm over the southern agricultural area, with local falls of 20 to 40 mm about southern coasts and ranges, reaching 40 to 50 mm about the Lower South East coast. 2 to 10 mm over the northern agricultural area and less than 2 mm elsewhere.
Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated showers over the agricultural area and south of the pastoral districts, tending scattered at first over the southern agricultural area, contracting south on Wednesday, clearing early Thursday then redeveloping about southern coasts later on Thursday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Friday.Product IDS10033
