MELBOURNE - Jun 18/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over southeastern New South Wales will move eastwards to the Tasman Sea today as a cold front crosses the Bight. The cold front will reach western Victoria Friday night before weakening during Saturday as it crosses to central districts. On Sunday a strengthening cold front will move from the Bight region to approach western Victoria later in the day. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMorning fog and frost patches, mainly in the east. A little drizzle possible about the northern slopes of the ranges this morning and evening. Otherwise, a cool and mostly cloudy day with light to moderate northerly winds freshening about the ranges.Friday 20 JuneScattered showers over the southwest and about the northeast ranges, falling as snow above 1500 metres. Isolated showers elsewhere apart from the far northwest and southeast. A cool day with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds.Saturday 21 JuneIsolated showers over the northwest and East Gippsland with scattered showers over remaining districts. Showers falling as snow above 1500 metres. A cool day with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds tending west to southwesterly in the west and easing during the evening.Sunday 22 JuneScattered showers over the northeast ranges. Isolated showers over most other areas but fine over the far southeast and northwest. Showers increasing in the southwest later in the day. Snow above 1600m.
