Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 17/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An upper level trough is extending a band of cloud and patchy light rain over the state's northeast and central coast districts, and is expected to move offshore during Wednesday morning. A high pressure system over southern Australia will move slowly eastwards over the next few days.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayCloudy with areas of patchy light rain over the northern tropics and central coast, clearing overnight. Fine and clear over the remainder of the state. Moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.Wednesday 18 JuneFine and sunny across the state except for some isolated showers about parts of the east coast. Areas of morning frost over the southern and central interior districts. Moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.Thursday 19 JuneThe high should drift eastwards into the Tasman Sea whilst directing a more moist airflow and some isolated showers onto Queensland's east coast and adjacent inland. Remaining fine and mostly sunny over the interior. Some areas of morning frost about the southeast interior, though not as widespread as experienced over the previous mornings.Friday 20 JuneA trough is expected to move into western parts of the state whilst the high in the Tasman Sea will weaken. Isolated showers are possible about the east coast and should extend into the central and southern inland as the trough approaches. Remaining fine and sunny over the far western districts and the northern interior. Frosts are no longer expected as milder, more moist air spreads to most of the state.Saturday 21 JuneA new high over central Australia should push dry air into Queensland's interior, keeping the western and central districts fine and sunny. The chance of some isolated showers about the southeast districts and the southeast interior near and around a surface trough. Fine and mostly sunny about the remainder of the east coast except for some isolated showers in the far north.Sunday until TuesdayThe ridge of high pressure over Central Australia will push dry further across Queensland's interior, keeping the state fine and sunny. Frosts returning to the southern interior from Sunday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Wednesday.Product IDQ10700
