Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 16/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An upper level trough is extending a band of cloud and patchy light rain over the northern tropics which is expected to weaken during today. A high pressure system over southern Australia will move slowly eastwards over the next few days.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayCloudy with areas of patchy light rain over the northern tropics and central coast, clearing during the day. Fine and sunny over the remainder of the state with widespread morning frost over the central interior and the southern districts. Moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.Wednesday 18 JuneThe upper trough and associated cloud band over the northern tropics should have cleared offshore. The high over southeast Australia will strengthen the ridge along the east coast of Queensland and will push some isolated showers onto parts of the east coast, mainly about the north tropical coast. The remainder of the state will be fine and mostly sunny. Areas of morning frost over the southern and central interior districts.Thursday 19 JuneThe high should drift eastwards into the Tasman Sea whilst directing a more moist airflow and some isolated showers onto Queensland's east coast and adjacent inland. Remaining fine and mostly sunny over the interior. Some areas of morning frost about the southeast interior, though not as widespread as experienced over the previous mornings.Friday 20 JuneA trough is expected to move into western parts of the state whilst the high in the Tasman Sea will weaken. Isolated showers are possible about the east coast and should extend into the central and southern inland as the trough approaches. Remaining fine and sunny over the far western districts and the northern interior. Frosts are no longer expected as milder, more moist air spreads to most of the state.Saturday until MondayA new ridge of high pressure over Central Australia will push some drier air into western Queensland and the central interior, leaving those districts fine and sunny. Isolated showers over the southeast and central east districts on Saturday ahead of the surface trough, clearing by Sunday as the trough moves offshore. Mainly isolated showers in an onshore flow about the northeast coast. Frosts may return to the southern interior on Sunday morning. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Tuesday.Product IDQ10700
