Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 16/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An upper level trough is extending a band of cloud and light rain over tropics. The band is expected to contract offshore during Tuesday. A high pressure system over southern Australia will move slowly eastwards over the next few days.
Forecast for the rest of MondayCloudy through over the northern tropics with areas of patchy light rain. Fine and clear over the remainder of the state. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Tuesday 17 JuneCloudy with areas of patchy light rain over the northern tropics and central coast, clearing during the day. Fine and sunny over the remainder of the state, and widespread morning frost over the central interior and the southern districts. Moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.Wednesday 18 JuneThe high over southeast Australia should push some isolated showers onto parts of the east coast and will keep the remainder of the state fine and mostly sunny. Areas of morning frost over the southern and central interior districts.Thursday 19 JuneThe high should drift eastwards into the Tasman Sea whilst directing a more moist airflow and some isolated showers onto Queensland's east coast. Remaining fine and mostly sunny over the interior. Some areas of morning frost about the southeast interior, though not as widespread as experienced over the previous mornings.Friday 20 JuneThe high pressure system should push some isolated showers onto Queensland's east coast as it drifts eastwards across the Tasman Sea. Remaining fine, dry and sunny over the far western districts and the northern interior. Isolated showers over the remainder of the state as humidity levels gradually increase and a surface trough approaches from the west.Saturday until MondayA new ridge of high pressure over Central Australia will push some drier air into western Queensland and the central interior, leaving those districts fine, dry and sunny. Isolated showers over the southeast and central east districts on Saturday ahead of the surface trough, clearing by Sunday as the trough moves offshore. Mainly isolated showers in an onshore flow about the northeast coast. Frosts may return to the southern interior Sunday morning.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Tuesday.Product IDQ10700
