Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure system off the southern coast of New South Wales will move east across the Tasman Sea tonight and tomorrow. A cold front south of the Bight will cross southwestern Victoria Monday morning, the northwest and central districts by Monday evening, then be east of the State Monday night. A high pressure system over the Bight on Monday will approach western Victoria on Tuesday before crossing the State on Wednesday. The high will move to the Tasman Sea on Thursday as the next cold front crosses waters south of the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers over the southeast with isolated light showers elsewhere south of the ranges. Dry and partly cloudy north of the divide. Moderate southwest to southerly winds, fresh about the eastern ranges and coastal fringe. Winds easing tonight and tending west to northwesterly over the west.Monday 16 JuneMorning fog and frost patches over the northeast. A band of rain entering the southwest during the morning, crossing to eastern districts by the early afternoon then clearing in the evening. Scattered showers to follow the rain near and south of the ranges, most extensive about the northeast ranges and the central and western coasts. Isolated thunderstorms possible over most districts near and south of the ranges. Snow developing above 1300 metres, mainly in the afternoon. A generally cool day with freshening west to northwesterly winds shifting southwesterly and becoming strong near the coast.Tuesday 17 JuneMorning fog patches over the north. Isolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast. Otherwise a generally cool and partly cloudy day with light to moderate south to southwesterly winds, fresh about the eastern ranges and coastal fringe.Wednesday 18 JuneMorning fog patches inland with morning frost about the northeast. Isolated showers possible near the Gippsland coast until the afternoon. Otherwise a cool and partly cloudy day with light winds tending north to northeasterly over the west in the afternoon.Thursday 19 JuneMorning fog and frost patches over the east. A cool and dry day with high cloud increasing from the west. Light to moderate northerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Monday.Product IDV10310
