MELBOURNE - Jun 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system off New South Wales south coast with an associated trough extending northwards to the Coral Sea is deepening. This low will gradually move away from the coast later on Sunday as a strong high pressure north of the Bight moves slowly east extending a ridge to the western Tasman Sea. The ridge will strengthen across the state over the next few days although cold fronts may affect southern districts during Monday and again on Friday. Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers in the southeast, with rain areas on the south coast and on the Alps and snow above about 1500 metres. Showers and rain clearing from most areas by the evening. Mostly sunny elsewhere. West to southwest winds, fresh to strong and more southerly along the coast.Monday 16 JuneIsolated showers or drizzle areas on the western slopes of the southern and central ranges, more scattered over the southwest slopes and southern Alps in the afternoon with snow showers above about 1500 metres. Areas of morning fog and frost over the ranges and west. Mostly sunny in the northeast. West to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong along parts of the coast at first, tending northwesterly in southern inland districts later.Tuesday 17 JuneMorning low cloud and drizzle on the western slopes of the southern and central ranges. The chance of late showers reaching the southern half of the coast. Morning fog and frost patches about the northwest slopes and northern ranges. Partly cloudy in the south, mostly sunny in the north. Southwest to southerly winds, fresh to strong along parts of the coast.Wednesday 18 JuneIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges, except for the far south coast. Areas of morning fog and frost inland, then a mostly sunny afternoon.
