Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 13/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak high pressure ridge stretches from New Zealand to the northern coast of New South Wales, and is expected to contract eastwards across the Tasman Sea tonight. A trough with an associated cold front and a low, is approaching from South Australia, and will move across New South Wales tonight and over the weekend. This system is forecast to bring a cold change and rain to most districts from today and into Sunday. There are indications that the low may deepen considerably over the Tasman Sea off the New South Wales South Coast during Sunday, while the next high pressure ridge strengthens from the west.
Forecast for the rest of FridayAreas of rain in central and western districts and the southeast, extending to central parts of the coast late in the evening. Possible thunderstorms through southwestern districts. Snow developing on the Alpine peaks. Fine in the northeast, apart from the chance of a shower or two along the north coast. Generally northerly winds in the east, with a cooler west to southwesterly change extending across the west.Saturday 14 JuneRain areas in the east, contracting to the southeast and easing to showers elsewhere during the day. Possible isolated thunderstorms in southern and central districts. Snow on the Alps above 1600 metres. Fine in the west, apart from isolated showers in the southwest. Cool to cold west to southwesterly winds extending throughout.Sunday 15 JuneRain areas over the southeast, falling as snow above about 1500 metres. Fine on the north coast and in the far west. Isolated showers elsewhere, increasing in the central east during the day. Cool to cold west to southwest winds, fresh to strong along the coast and ranges.Monday 16 JuneIsolated showers on the southern ranges and southwest slopes, possibly extending west near the Victorian border, falling as snow above about 1500 metres. Possible early drizzle on the western slopes of the ranges. Fine elsewhere. West to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong along parts of the coast at first, tending northwesterly in southern inland districts later.Tuesday 17 JuneIsolated showers over the southern ranges and southwest slopes. Chance of isolated showers along the coast north to the Hunter late in the day. Fine elsewhere. Southwest to southerly winds, fresh to strong along parts of the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Saturday.Product IDN10031
