MELBOURNE - Jun 13/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure is weakening along the east coast. An upper level trough is producing a band of rain that will move eastwards across the state during today and Saturday. A new high pressure system over southern Australia is pushing a cooler, drier westerly wind change across the state beneath the cloud band. Forecast for the rest of FridayLight to moderate rain in a band over the southern and central interior. Scattered showers over the northern tropics and also over the state's southeast. Some isolated light showers about the remainder of the east coast. Mostly moderate southeast to northeast winds, with a cooler west to southwesterly wind change spreading across the western districts.Saturday 14 JuneThe upper trough will move eastwards across the state, extending a band of light to moderate rain over the southeast and central east districts. Mainly isolated showers about the northern tropics in some lingering humidity. The high over southern Australia should push cooler, dry air across most of the state during the day.Sunday 15 JuneThe high over southern Australia will maintain fine and sunny conditions and below average temperatures over most of the Queensland. Areas of morning frost over the southern interior. Isolated showers are possible over the state's far north in an onshore wind flow.Monday 16 JuneDry with cool to mild temperatures across the state except for some isolated showers over the far north. Widespread morning frost over the southeast interior, central interior and southern interior districts.Tuesday until ThursdayThe high will maintain fine, cool to mild, and sunny conditions across Queensland except for some isolated showers over the northern tropics in an onshore flow, and some showers about the southeast district late in the week.
