Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 13/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system west of Adelaide will extend a trough across Victoria on Friday. The low will move into southwestern New South Wales late on Friday then weaken as the trough crosses Victoria early on Saturday. A new low will develop off the New South Wales south coast on Saturday then deepen. The low will move eastwards later on Sunday as a cold front approaches Victoria. The cold front will move across Victoria on Monday as a high pressure ridge enters the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of FridayRain areas about central and eastern areas contracting to the far east during the afternoon and evening. Isolated showers over remaining districts, increasing over the north and west during the afternoon with isolated thunderstorms possible. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day with light northeast to northerly winds tending south to southwesterly in the southwest later.Saturday 14 JuneScattered showers over southern and and mountain districts, tending to areas of rain in the east with heavy falls developing over east Gippsland. Only isolated showers over the northwest, mainly during the afternoon. Snow above 1500 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate southwest to southerly winds, fresh at times near the coast and strengthening about the east coast during the afternoon and evening.Sunday 15 JuneRain areas over east Gippsland with further heavy falls. Showers over remaining southern districts, more isolated over the southwest and falling as snow above 1500 metres. Fine and partly cloudy north of the divide. A generally cool day with moderate southwest to southerly winds, strong at times about the east coast.Monday 16 JuneScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, with isolated showers extending to the north during the afternoon. A cool to mild day with moderate west to northwest winds shifting southwesterly from the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Friday.Product IDV10310
