Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 12/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow-moving belt of high pressure stretches from the southern Tasman Sea across New South Wales and into Queensland, while a low pressure system is situated near New Zealand. A trough with an associated cold front and a low, currently moving across South Australia, will progress steadily east during the next few days. This system is forecast to bring a cold change and rain to most districts from late Thursday through to Sunday. There are early indications that the low may deepen considerably over the Tasman Sea later on the weekend, while the next high pressure ridge strengthens from the west.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayAreas of rain developing in the far west. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere, apart from the chance of a shower or two about the far north coast. Areas of morning fog in the east, and early frosts on the tablelands. Northeast to northwesterly winds.Friday 13 JuneAreas of rain in central and western districts, extending to the southeast during the day and to central parts of the coast late in the evening. Snow developing on the Alpine peaks. Fine in the northeast, apart from the chance of a shower or two along the north coast. Early fog patches in the east. Generally northerly winds in the east, with a cooler west to southwesterly change extending across the west.Saturday 14 JuneRain areas in the east, contracting to the southeast and easing to showers elsewhere during the day. Snow on the Alps. Fine in the west, apart from the some isolated showers in the southwest. Cool to cold west to southwesterly winds extending throughout.Sunday 15 JuneRain areas along the west slopes and and ranges, along the southern and central coast, easing and contracting to just the southeast during the day. Cool to cold west to southwest winds, strong in the southeast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDN10031
