MELBOURNE - Jun 12/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over the west of the State is moving eastwards, with a low pressure system expected to develop south of Kangaroo Island during the day. The low will move northwards over Spencer Gulf on Friday, and move into New South Wales early on Saturday. A new high will develop over the south of Western Australia on the weekend. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers developing over the southern agricultural area, Eyre Peninsula and the West Coast district. Isolated showers over the remainder of the northern agricultural area and North West Pastoral district. Possible isolated thunderstorms near western coasts. Patchy rain in the far northeast. Cool to mild with mainly moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, shifting southwesterly over the western half during the day and strengthening near the coast.Friday 13 JuneIsolated showers and possible isolated thunderstorms over the agricultural area, with showers tending scattered over the southern agricultural area. The chance of isolated showers over the Flinders and south of the pastoral districts. Cool to cold with fresh to strong south to southwest winds in the southwest, tending light to moderate southeast to northeast in the southeast and moderate to fresh northwest to southwest in the north.Saturday 14 JuneIsolated showers over the agricultural area and far south of the pastorals, tending scattered near southern coasts. Cool with moderate to fresh south to southwest winds, strong at first about southern coasts.Sunday 15 June Isolated showers over the west coast, the southern agricultural area and about northern Spencer Gulf coasts. Cool with light to moderate west to southwest winds, tending southerly in the north. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday morning to midnight Sunday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over the agricultural area, increasing to 10 to 20 mm near western and southern coasts and over Eyre Peninsula, with possible falls of 20 to 40 mm over Lower Eyre Peninsula. 1 to 5 mm is expected in the rain area in the far northeast. Less than 2 mm is expected over the remainder of the State.
