MELBOURNE - Jun 11/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weakening high pressure system east of Tasmania extends a ridge across eastern Victoria that will move to the Tasman Sea this morning. Meanwhile a cold front will move from the Bight towards southwest Victoria by tonight. The front will develop a low pressure system south of Adelaide on Thursday that will move over southern New South Wales on Friday. On Saturday the low is forecast to deepen off the New South Wales south coast. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayMorning fog and frost patches, mainly in the east. Otherwise a cool to mild day with high cloud increasing from the west and light to moderate northerly winds.Thursday 12 JunePatchy rain extending from the west, though remaining dry over the far east. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate northerly winds shifting southwesterly in the far west.Friday 13 JuneRain areas contracting to the east and easing in the evening. Scattered showers following, tending isolated over the west and clearing from the northwest at night. Snowfalls above 1400 metres. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms possible over the northwest. Light winds tending south to southwesterly in the west. A cool to cold day.Saturday 14 JuneIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts, tending scattered over the southeast. Snow showers above 1300 metres.
