MELBOURNE - Jun 11/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow-moving belt of high pressure stretches from the southern Tasman Sea across New South Wales and into central Australia, while a complex low pressure system is situated near New Zealand. A trough and associated cold front, currently over Western Australia, will progress steadily east during the next few days, and a low is expected to develop within the trough as it approaches the New South Wales border on Thursday. This system is forecast to bring a cold change and rain to most districts from late Thursday through to Sunday. There are early indications that the low may deepen considerably over the Tasman Sea later on the weekend, while the next high pressure ridge strengthens from the west. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers along the coastal fringe north of Nowra, contracting further north through the day. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Morning fog patches in the south and east, and early frosts on the tablelands. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Thursday 12 JuneAreas of rain developing in the west. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere, apart from the chance of a shower or two about the far north coast. Morning fog patches in the south and east, and early frosts on the tablelands. Northeast to northwesterly winds.Friday 13 JuneAreas of rain in central and western districts, extending to the southeast during the day. Snow developing on the Alpine peaks. Fine in the northeast, apart from the chance of a shower or two on the far north coast. Early fog patches in the east. Generally northerly winds in the east, with a cooler west to southwesterly change extending across the west.Saturday 14 JuneRain areas in the east, contracting to the southeast and easing to showers during the day. Snow on the Alps. Fine in the west, apart from the chance of showers along the southern border districts.
