Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 10/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure extends along the east coast from a high in the southern Tasman Sea. The ridge will gradually weaken over the next few days as the high drifts to the south of New Zealand and dissipates. A surface trough will move into the far southwest of the state during Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers about the southern tropical and northern central coasts, tending isolated about the remaining tropical east coast. Isolated showers also about the exposed coast and adjacent inland from Fraser Island southwards. Fine and mostly sunny across the remainder of the state. Moderate south to southeast winds across the state, fresh to strong at times about the east coast.Wednesday 11 JuneScattered showers about the northeast tropical coast, decreasing to isolated during the day. Possible isolated showers about the remainder of the exposed east coast. Fine and mostly sunny over the interior with generally mild daytime temperatures.Fire Danger -  High in the Central Highlands and Coalfields. Low to moderate over the remainder.Thursday 12 JuneThe ridge over eastern Australia should weaken and this will ease the onshore flow over Queensland's east coast, resulting in mostly fine conditions along the east coast except for the chance of some isolated showers about the exposed coasts. A surface trough will enter the southwest of the state during the day bringing the chance of showers to the Channel Country. Fine, mild and sunny over the rest of the state. Isolated areas of early light frost about the Granite Belt.Friday 13 JuneA surface trough and upper trough should move eastwards across the state, producing cloudy conditions with isolated showers over the interior, becoming more likely over the southern interior. Isolated showers about the east coast over the tropics and redeveloping about the southeast. Becoming cooler and drier later in the day over the west after the surface trough passes through.Saturday 14 JuneThe surface and upper trough will both progress to the east across southern Queensland, producing cloudy conditions with isolated showers, although these may tend scattered through the southeastern interior. The troughs and shower activity will likely reach the southeast of the state late on the day. Elsewhere Isolated showers area expected about the eastern tropics. Below average temperatures developing over the inland in the wake of the surface trough.Sunday until TuesdayThe surface trough will likely push off the east coast early on Sunday, extending a cool dry airmass over most of the state except the tropics. The only possible shower activity during the outlook period is about the eastern tropical coast, north of about Cairns, in a slightly more onshore flow. Fine and sunny elsewhere, with only a little cloud expected about the southern and southwestern border. Below average temperatures will extend across the entire state from Sunday, with areas of frost likely through the southern and southeastern interior.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Wednesday.Product IDQ10700
