MELBOURNE - Jun 10/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system is centred southeast of Tasmania and a low pressure system is located near New Zealand. The high extends a ridge northwards across eastern Victoria. The ridge will drift eastwards, reaching the Tasman Sea on Wednesday as a cold front moves from the Bight towards southwest Victoria. The front will weaken over western Victoria on Thursday night as a low pressure system forms near Adelaide. The low will move over southern New South Wales on Friday and deepen off the New South Wales south coast late on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine. High cloud at times. Light northerly winds.Wednesday 11 JuneMorning fog and frost patches, mainly in the east, otherwise a fine, cool to mild day with high cloud increasing from the west. Generally moderate northerly winds.Thursday 12 JuneRain areas extending from the west, though remaining dry over the far east. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate northerly winds shifting southwesterly in the far west.Friday 13 JuneRain areas contracting eastwards and easing in the evening. Isolated showers over most remaining districts, tending to scattered in the southeast. Snowfalls above 1400 metres. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the northwest. Light winds tending moderate southwesterly in the west. Cool to cold day.Saturday 14 JuneIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts, becoming scattered in the southeast. Snow showers above 1300 metres.
