MELBOURNE - Jun 10/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system is centred southeast of Tasmania and a low pressure system is located near New Zealand. The high extends a ridge northwards across Victoria that will drift eastwards today, reaching the Tasman Sea on Wednesday as a cold front moves from the Bight towards southwest Victoria. The front will cross most of the State on Thursday, moving through the northeast on Friday morning. Another cold front will move across the Southern Ocean south of Tasmania on Friday as the next high pressure system moves over the southwestern corner of the continent. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayAreas of fog and patches of frost this morning. Otherwise a cool to mild day with high cloud at times. Light to moderate northerly winds.Wednesday 11 JuneMorning fog and frost patches, mainly in the east, otherwise a fine, cool to mild day with high cloud increasing from the west. Generally moderate northerly winds.Thursday 12 JuneScattered showers extending from the southwest, mainly affecting southern and mountain districts. Dry over the far east. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate northerly winds shifting southwesterly from the west.Friday 13 JuneRain areas over the northeast, contracting eastwards and easing to isolated showers in the evening. Isolated showers over most remaining districts, tending to scattered in the southeast. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the northwest.
