MELBOURNE - Jun 8/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system is centred west of Tasmania and a low pressure system is located over the Tasman Sea to the southeast of Victoria. The high extends a ridge northwards and the ridge will move across Victoria overnight and during Monday as the low moves away to the east and weakens. The ridge will drift eastwards across Victoria on Tuesday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Wednesday as a cold front moves from the Bight towards southwest Victoria. The front will cross the State Thursday, affecting mainly southern Victoria. Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers in the southeast. Dry elsewhere. South to southeast winds, fresh near along the East Gippsland coast and becoming strong about the Alpine peaks.Monday 9 JuneWidespread morning frost and early morning fog patches. Showers over Gippsland, mainly in the east. Dry elsewhere. Partly cloudy in the south, but mainly sunny over the north. A cool to mild day with light south to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 10 JuneMorning fog and frost patches. Isolated showers possible over the far east, otherwise a dry, cool to mild, and mostly sunny day with just some patchy high cloud at times. Light to moderate northerly winds.Wednesday 11 JuneMorning fog and frost patches, mainly in the east, otherwise a fine, cool to mild day with high cloud increasing from the west. Generally moderate northerly winds.Thursday 12 JuneIsolated showers extending from the southwest, mainly affecting southern and mountain districts. Dry over the far north and east.
