Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 4/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front over southwestern Victoria will weaken to a trough as it crosses the remainder of the State overnight. A high pressure system building over the Bight will drift slowly eastwards to be centred just west of Victoria from late Thursday and during the weekend. The next cold front will move from the Southern Ocean across Victoria during Saturday then weaken to a trough over the Tasman Sea on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayPatchy drizzle clearing from the northeast ranges. Scattered showers over the southwest extending to western and central Gippsland this evening with isolated showers possible over the northwest tonight. Generally light northwesterly winds shifting southwesterly over the west.Thursday 5 JuneMorning fog patches inland. Isolated showers over southern and mountain districts, tending scattered over the southeast during the morning. The chance of showers also over the northern plains in the morning. Showers contracting to the coastal fringe and the far east by evening. A cool to mild day with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Friday 6 JuneEarly fog and light frost patches inland. Isolated showers or drizzle over the southeast contracting to East Gippsland in the afternoon. Isolated showers developing over the southwest during the afternoon extending to the central coast by the evening. Dry and partly cloudy elsewhere. A cool to mild day with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Saturday 7 JuneMorning frost patches in the northeast. Scattered showers over the south, extending northward during the day but remaining dry over the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms with small hail possible near the Gippsland coast. Snow showers down to 1200m. Showers contracting to the western coast and the southeast by late in the day. A cool to mild day with moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds, gusty near coastal areas.Sunday 8 JuneScattered showers over the southeast tending isolated elsewhere near and south of the ranges. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres. A cool day with moderate southerly winds, fresh near the East Gippsland coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
