Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 3/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system [1032 hPa] in the Tasman Sea extends a ridge of high pressure along Queensland's east coast. A new high in the Great Australian Bight will strengthen during the remainder of this week, reinforcing the ridge. A surface trough over southeastern Queensland will shift offshore during Wednesday morning.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayEarly morning fog areas in the east. Isolated showers about the east coast and adjacent eastern interior, most likely about the Central Coast and North Tropical Coast. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder with early frost patches about the Granite Belt. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, tending fresh to strong about the coast in the far north. Above average temperatures through the east and interior.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate statewide.Thursday 5 JuneThe high pressure system will shift further to the east of New Zealand as a new high intensifies over southeastern Australia. The new high will direct a south to southeasterly flow across the state, with isolated showers about the east coast and adjacent inland, particularly the exposed sections. Fine and sunny over the central and western districts. Above average temperatures continuing through the east and interior.Friday 6 JuneThe high will remain slow moving over southeastern Australia, continuing to direct a south to southeasterly flow across the state. Isolated showers will continue in the onshore airflow about the east coast and adjacent inland, particularly the exposed sections. Fine and sunny over the central and western districts. Above average temperatures continuing through the east and interior.Saturday 7 JuneThe high will remain slow moving over southeastern Australia, with a south to southeasterly flow directed across the state. Isolated showers will continue in the onshore airflow about the east coast and adjacent inland, particularly the exposed sections. An upper trough will build over western Queensland, increasing cloud in the north and northwest of the state with isolated showers. Fine and sunny elsewhere. Temperatures will tend closer to average as the flow tends more southerly.Sunday until TuesdayThe high will continue moving slowly eastwards. A surface and upper trough will move through Queensland during Sunday and early Monday, with an increase in shower activity over the north and east of the state. Shower activity will likely contract offshore into the Coral Sea from the tropics into the start of the new week. The high to the south will keep conditions fine and sunny over the interior.
