Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 2/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system in the Tasman Sea extends a ridge of high pressure along Queensland's east coast. A surface trough is currently over the southeast interior, and should drift eastwards off the southeast coast tomorrow.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers about the east coast and nearby inland areas, extending into the southeast interior. The chance of thunderstorms over the southeast interior. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, tending east to southeasterly in the east. Winds fresh at times about the tropical coast.Tuesday 3 JuneIsolated showers about the east coast and eastern interior areas, becoming more likely about the southeast parts of the state. The chance of thunderstorms in the southeast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, tending east to southeasterly in the east. Winds fresh at times about the tropical coast.Wednesday 4 JuneThe high pressure system will move to the east of New Zealand as another high enters the Great Australian Bight. A ridge will continue through eastern Queensland, with isolated showers pushing onto the east coast in the onshore airflow. Fine and sunny in the west.Thursday 5 JuneThe high pressure system will shift further east of New Zealand as the next high intensifies over southeastern Australia. The high will direct a south to southeasterly flow across the state, with isolated showers about the east coast, particularly the exposed sections. Fine and sunny over the central and western districts.Friday 6 JuneThe high will remain slow moving over southeastern Australia, continuing to direct a south to southeasterly flow across the state. Isolated showers will continue in the onshore airflow about the east coast, particularly the exposed sections. Fine and sunny over the central and western districts.Saturday until MondayThe high will continue moving slowly eastwards. A surface and upper trough will move through Queensland over the weekend, with showers and possible thunderstorm expected, especially in the south of the state.
