Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 1/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system [1031 hPa] in the Tasman Sea extends a ridge of high pressure along Queensland's east coast. A surface trough is moving east through the southern inland Queensland and will stall and weaken over the southeastern inland by Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers about the east coast and adjacent inland areas, less likely about the lower Burdekin and the southeast. Isolated showers in a band across the central and southern interior districts, with the chance of thunderstorms in the far south, contracting eastwards during the evening. Fine and mostly clear over the west of the state. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds over most of the state, fresh at times about the north tropical coast.Monday 2 JuneIsolated showers about the east coast and adjacent inland areas, extending inland through the southeastern interior. Showers tending scattered with the chance of thunderstorms over the far southern Darling Downs in the afternoon and evening. Fine and mostly sunny over the west of the state. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, tending east to southeasterly in the east. Winds fresh at times about the tropical coast.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate.Tuesday 3 JuneA new high should move across southeast Australia, maintaining an onshore flow and mainly isolated showers over Queensland's eastern districts, with more widespread showers about the state's southeast due to the upper trough. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible over the southeast during the afternoon. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.Wednesday 4 JuneThe new high should continue to push isolated showers over Queensland's far eastern districts, particularly over the eastern tropics. Fine and sunny in the west.Thursday 5 JuneThe high will remain anchored over the southeast of the country and will direct a south to southeasterly flow across the state, with isolated showers about the east coast, particularly the exposed sections. Fine and sunny over the central and western districts.Friday until SundayThe high will remain over the southeast of the continent and will intensify, bringing an increasingly southerly flow over the state. Isolated showers are expected about the exposed coast in this flow, but will be come less likely towards the end of the weekend as the flow tends more southerly. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will continue over the interior of the state.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Monday.Product IDQ10700
