MELBOURNE - Jun 1/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is located in the Tasman Sea and will drift east of New Zealand midweek. A broad, low pressure complex lies over inland Victoria and New South Wales. The low is likely to be near eastern Bass Strait on Monday then move east of Tasmania on Tuesday as a cold front crosses waters south of the Bight. This front will move through southern Victoria on Wednesday. The next high pressure system will move into western Victoria late on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayArea of rain in the east. Isolated showers in remaining districts. Generally light winds tending moderate northeast to southeasterly near the coast.Monday 2 JuneMorning fog patches. Scattered showers over the southeast and only isolated showers near the central coast. Isolated showers elsewhere near and south of the ranges. A cool day with light to moderate south to southwesterly winds tending east to southeasterly about the South Gippsland and Central coasts.Tuesday 3 JuneMorning fog patches. Scattered showers in the east, only isolated in remaining districts. A cool day with generally light and variable winds, tending westerly near the coastal fringe.Wednesday 4 JuneEarly fog patches. Scattered showers extending across most districts from the west. Cool to mild day with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds.Thursday 5 JuneIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts, tending scattered in the southeast , and contracting eastwards during the day.
